It’s saturday night and all you’ll want to do is dance again with your Papi, get down with some Sexy Movimiento that will have you saying I Like How It Feels! Luckily, Washingtonians will have the chance to live it up on Saturday, July 28 at the Verizon Center with Jennifer Lopez, Enrique iglesias and Wisin & Yandel. Trust me, this will be a summer show that you won’t want to miss.
You may know her as a judge on American Idol, a fashion and fragrance designer or simply remember her as the actress that played the beloved Selena back in the ‘90s. Nonetheless, Jennifer Lopez ( J.Lo) has had a multifaceted successful career spanning over the last decade. Her start as a Fly Girl on the show In Living Color got her career jump started as a dancer and her face known on the small screen. It wasn’t until 1999 when we got our first chance to hear Lopez as a singer with the album “On The 6”. A tribute to her roots as a dancer and girl from the Bronx taking the 6 train to the city, “On The 6” was catapulted to the top by the influence and power of the MTV TRL generation. The success of the debut single and video for “If You Had My Love” made her become one of the first Latina artists to score top 5 status on the show. J.Lo had officially become a household name in America.
Trendsetter and empire mogul, J.Lo has set records by being the first woman (and Latina) to have a #1 Billboard Top 200 Chart album ( JLO 2001) and #1 movie (The Wedding Planner) at the same time. She set the standard for celebrity branding in fragrance, apparel and accessories. Last year, “On The Floor” became the Most Watched Music Video by a female artist in the History of YouTube, with a staggering 500 million views. It almost seems as though anything she touches turns to gold and this summer won’t be the exception. Embarking on her biggest tour to date, Jennifer Lopez will be teaming up with Spanish singer heartthrob Enrique Iglesias and the dynamic duo from Puerto Rico, Wisin & Yandel for a tour that is being dubbed as one of the hottest music tickets this summer.
Enrique Iglesias’ start was definitely like an Experiencia Religiosa. The son of the legendary Julio Iglesias, Enrique began his career singing in his native Spanish language. After worldwide success, he then made the jump riding the Latino music crossover wave of the early 2000s and making a name for himself in the English language market. His crossover solidified him as a superstar and to date, Enrique is one of the top grossing Spanish entertainers currently on tour. Undeniably, the biggest Latin recording artist in music history, Enrique has 22 #1 singles on the Billboard Latin Songs Chart, as well as, multiple #1’s across the Billboard charts with a combined 68 No. 1 charted positions. Hits like Rhythm Divine, Be With You, Do You Know? (The Ping Pong song), to the video sensation Hero featuring guest stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Mickey Rourke. Enrique has given the world a heavy and intoxicating dose of his haunting crooning voice combined with the undeniable sex appeal that comes with the Iglesias last name. His latest record, Euphoria, is a tribute to his Spanish language roots and club sound that has garnered him multiple collaborations with artists like Juan Luis Guerra, Pitbull, and Wisin & Yandel. You might know a little song called I like it, right? Euphoria has been one of his most successful albums to date with over 5 million albums sold.
When it comes to collaborations, El Duo de la Historia Wisin & Yandel know a thing or two about that. From their humble beginnings in the mountainous city of Cayey, Puerto Rico, Wisin & Yandel have had a huge role in evolving and transforming the reggaeton genre into the sound and force that it is today. Los Líderes have been the go-to guys for reggaeton crossover collaborations. Artists of the caliber of David Bisbal, Franco De Vita, 50 Cent, Akon, and Pitbull have called upon them to give their music some flair.
Wisin’s aggressive and in-your-face sound is masterfully complimented by Yandel’s harmonies and hooks. Over 13 years of partnership have allowed them to continually grow and evolve their sound by challenging themselves to surpass their previous work. The crowning jewel of this partnership was the monster album Wisin VS Yandel: Los Extraterrestres. This album was the launch pad to the reggaeton club sound we know today. On tour, Wisin y Yandel have proven to be a force to be reckoned with, becoming the only artists in the Urban Latin Music genre to sell out both the Staples Center and Madison Square Garden in the U.S.
With combined album sales of almost 125 million, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez and Wisin Y Yandel are more than just superstars, they are some of the most dominant powerhouses in music today. Known for their spectacular and engaging stage shows, Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias and Wisin & Yandel will give fans the ultimate summer concert experience; a night filled with audio visual amazement and non-stop dancing. ¡Suelta!
Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, and Wisin y Yandel live @ The Verizon Center on July 28th.
