Now Begins the Waiting Game…

Juanes to release Unplugged CD/DVD this May

The Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes  recorded his MTV Unplugged last week at the New World Center in Miami Beach under the direction of Dominican legend, Juan Luis Guerra.  The special was recorded along side a crowd of almost 800 people.  The special is set to air in May 2012 and to be followed with a summer tour in support of the dvd and album.

Personally, I have been a fan of Juanes for over 12 years now.  It all started when I first heard the song Fíjate Bien.  Yes, he is more than easy on the eyes, but initially what drew me to him was the soul in his guitar riffs.  I got hooked and started paying closer attention to his lyrics, to the strength in his voice and the simplicity of his music.  I can honestly say that I am still today a faithful fan of his music and his mission.

Not only was he named on of  Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People  in 2005 but he was recently honored with the Vision Award at the 25th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts on September 15, 2011.  The award recognized his humanitarian and philanthropic work with his foundation Mi Sangre, which fights against the use of anti-personnel mines and also focuses on rehabilitation and assistance of landmine victims in his native Colombia.

Musician, philanthropist and father, Juanes also recently recorded a special episode of Sesame Street celebrating Hispanic Heritage month.  “Sesame Street will premiere a special episode “The Latinization of Marco” where Gina teaches her adopted Guatemalan-born son about his roots. Special guests include Colombian superstar, Juanes singing “Muevete” with Elmo and Rosita; Sofia Vergara teaching the Spanish word ‘baile;’ and Ballet Hispanico.” – Sesame Street

Juanes sings “Muevete” with Sesame Street’s Elmo and Rosita teaching kids to get up and move with the music using their ‘manos, cabeza, pies’ – that’s hands, head and feet!  “Elmo had so much fun singing with Juanes, Elmo hopes to sing with him again soon!” – Elmo from Sesame Street.  On what he claims to be one of the most fun projects he has ever done, Juanes prooves that he is one cool dad.  Father to three children (Luna, Paloma and Dante) his knowledge of Sesame Street is rather extensive as is that of any parent that went through the preschool phase of their child.

With the MTV Tres Unplugged project, Juanes feels as though he has returned to his roots and re-discovered his music.  Among the tracks to be featured on this edition of Unplugged are:

  • Fíjate bien, La paga
  •  Nada valgo sin tu amor
  • Es por tí
  •  Todo en mi vida eres tú (inédita)
  •  A dios le pido
  •  Hoy me voy feat. Paula fernándes
  • Volverte a ver
  • Camisa negra
  • Azul feat. Joaquín sabina (inédita)
  • Para tu amor
  • La señal (inédita)
  • Me enamora
  •  Odio por amor

Dear May, would you hurry up and get here so I can get my Juanes fix?  I know I won’t be the only one waiting for tour dates to be posted.  See you soon in DC!
